Who do you help?
Leaders of teams, professionals & entrepreneurs. People who have had a career break, are considering studying at master’s level, feel stuck in their jobs & want guidance about career routes, are approaching retirement, work on a voluntary basis.
What can I get help with?
Improving your skills in the following areas: Adjusting to a new role, communication, influencing, networking, coaching, dealing with poor performance, navigating your career, resilience, confidence building & personal organisation.
Where are they held?
Generally, sessions are conducted using video conferencing platforms. Zoom or WebEx. Some clients prefer to simply use the telephone. We join other platforms if clients have a strong preference. However, first sessions / specially requested sessions can be held at Pinero House, Harley St. on a Saturday, Sunday or weekday.
How long are sessions?
Usually between 1 and 2 hours depending on the stage of coaching and your needs / preferences.
What is your coaching style?
My focus is on your individual needs and context. My approach is for us to build a partnership to achieve your objectives. My aim is to help you find your own bespoke solutions. I bring psychological understanding, a business focus and a global perspective on leadership in organisations. This gives me a sense of how your skills may stack up in relation to other leaders. Some people are looking for a safe reflective space, others want to be nudged out of their comfort zone, others are looking for frank feedback. All clients are encouraged to solve their own issues. However, some clients want an opinion which can be provided. Some clients want extra support as they have additional challenges e.g. mental health, Asperger’s syndrome or ADHD.
What happens before the first session?
We schedule a conversation for you to explain your aims and a thumbnail of your context by phone in order to check that it is worthwhile setting up a full session. You receive a page of positive psychology questions in preparation & guidance on how to evaluate our conversation.
What happens in the first session?
You bring along your aims and we review your working life so far with a focus on your positive qualities and successes. I send the questions in advance if you prefer. Focus on problems comes after understanding your strengths and experiences.
How often do sessions take place?
Usually the first two or three sessions are held within a month of each other. The most common frequency following the initial sessions is monthly. Frequency is determined to maximise application of skills and maintain momentum.
What happens in subsequent sessions?
Together we will refine your aims to become more specific objectives. We form a partnership, organising the structure of the sessions together. I offer feedback about the communication I see during our sessions and challenge you to step outside your comfort zone. Activities range from problem solving, learning skills and rehearsing them, adapting your inner dialogue, creating a vision of yourself in the future, reviewing current relevant learning materials. It is likely we will build a stakeholder map and review feedback from stakeholders.
